Omdia, a division of Informa TechTarget, is hiring for a qualified and motivated Research Director to head our China Semiconductor research practice，This role combines hands-on research expertise with team leadership and strategic oversight, managing a local team of 3 analysts.
The Research Director will focus primarily on China Semiconductor Landscape research while maintaining responsibility for the entire China Semiconductor practice, including Semiconductor Manufacturing and Semiconductor Components (MCU, power semiconductors and sensors). The position reports directly to the Senior Director, Semiconductor Research and requires a balance of product delivery, strategic planning, and team management.
The Research Director will work alongside functional teams located across multiple locations in Europe, APAC and North America. This role requires building and maintaining extensive industry networks, establishing thought leadership, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality market intelligence to our local and global client base. The Research Director will also be required to undertake domestic and international travel for research and business development purposes.
Qualifications
6+years of experience in the China semiconductor industry with demonstrated understanding of:
China semiconductor trends and market dynamics, ecosystems, and supply chains
Deep understanding of China semiconductor supply chain from foundry to components to applications, with the ability to “connect the dots”
Experience in tracking emerging technologies such as advanced packaging and chiplets
Team leadership and management skills
Technical & Research Skills
Advanced analytical capabilities with expertise in research methodologies and data management.
Expert proficiency in Excel for data building, manipulation, and pivot table creation
Primary and secondary research coordination and execution
Database development capabilities for market analysis and forecasting
Research scoping abilities to identify new opportunities and evolve coverage
Leadership & Communication
Strong leadership presence with proven ability to influence across organizational structures.
Matrix management expertise for cross-functional collaboration
Excellent presentation skills for client briefings and conference speaking
Written communication excellence for research publications and reports
Mentoring and training capabilities for colleague development
Business Acumen
Strategic thinking combined with operational execution capabilities.
Account management experience as lead analyst for strategic relationships
Partnership development with internal teams and external stakeholders
Commercial research agenda development aligned with market opportunities
